8 months is a period that we hadn’t traveled since February of this year ….. 8 months(almost a year)!! I guess everybody has been still in the same situation around the world. We had just been stick around a neighborhood, and had avoided the crowds even though in a case like going to a grocery store. What had kept my life better and saved my life in this period is not only good local restaurants but also my partner’s homemade meal. That made me realized once again how good homemade is. Through this blog, I would like to thank my partner Tomo-san again. Thank you Tomo-san. And we also started going to a farmer’s house 伊藤園 (Ito-en), where they sell their own produce. I had never visited a farmer’s house to buy what they have harvested that day and also had never known there are people who grows crop in Tokyo. Believe me … I’ve never seen “Tokyo” on the produce price tag. Through this 8 months-self-catering, once again I realized how important taking time and effort is. Ohhh again !! I’ve still chatted…. but you know, chatting makes dinner time awesome 🤩. Okey-dokey, let’s talk about this wine KONPIRA MARU from Australia. Around the middle of October last month, we finally visited Nagano for the first time in 8 months(I want to talk about this trip to Nagano…but again it could be a long story to tell…. so not this time). When we took a dinner at Fika, they recommended this petillant for a start, so we grabbed it and of course….. we drank it all down in the blink of an eye. At first, I felt the scent like slightly yogurt (but you know it’s not like the same as exactly the smell of yogurt), and I could smell like plum or grated apple too. When it was in my mouth, the bubble (not strong) was immediately sparkling like fireworks, and the taste (plum/lemon/grapefruit) and a moderate sourness were also spreading out as if flowers bloomed all at once. That moment was exactly WOW. I mean… I felt everything moved so slow like a scene of the movie “Inception” (Can you hear that classic music??). The sound felt far away, as if living on a different time axis. But like the blue sky, the taste and scent were clear. This wine KONPIRA MARU is good as an aperitif. Bring this one and go to the wild with someone who you care about. This is my suggestion to you. Furthermore(not over yet 😅), I felt that by mixing the lees at room temperature at last, the taste became like an orange tea. Amazing! Isn’t it?? By the way, bubble was almost gone at this moment. And… again we bought three bottles of this wine !! That means… you know what, right?? カンパイ!!(Cheers)
Day 1. “Woooo.” That was the first our reaction when we smelled and tasted this one. The wine’s scent is like…. how can I explain it ?? You know sometimes we face something that we can’t explain. I mean… that scent was what we have never smelled it. Basically it has a strong sour and astringent aroma. It didn’t have anything like taste of muscat or grapes. So we decided to put it back in the refrigerator with hope. Day 2. “No! No way!!” We were in despair… . Our reaction was totally the same as a guy’s one at the terrifying moment of the movie “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (the guy chooses a wrong Holy Grail).” I felt that this is not drinkable at all. However, this wine was made in a traditional way. So this might be a taste of wine that ancestors drank in the past…. maybe… . I don’t want to complain but I guess some people really might get mad because of it and because of the price(it’s not expensive but not reasonable too). Day 3. “!!!!!!!!!!!!.” That was miracle!! We stared at each other for a while. What happened to this wine?? Everything was totally, mysteriously, and amazingly opposite. The scent became like muscat and that terrible astringent aroma became weak. I can’t say this wine awesome but this wine could show us some idea of what a wine can be since from now.
100% definitely this is the Kyoho scent. Kids would say they want to drink it, but sorry… not for kiddos. Red cups are not available. Anyway…it is about the taste of this wine. The taste is also the same, but has also faintly a taste of some flower or grape skin. Flower, I mention, means not like green one growing on the street…. more like colorful and savory one growing on the wild. The wild….I miss the wild so much…almost half a year not out of town… oh my god. Sometime I ask myself like “Is it real?? Should I take a red pill if possible??” Sorry. Again my bad habit.. . Let’s get back to the topic. The overall taste of this wine is not too rich, but moderately rich. So it’s good to go with meal or just it. But be careful, its easy to chug a bottle down to the last drop. I mean “No rush” and “Please taste” (We drank the wine in less than an hour 😅 HOLLY CRAP). This Yamanashi’s rose wine “None Gas” shows us what Japanese bio wine is like. By the way, this is not bubble one. ノンガス(non gasu) means non-gas. 乾杯! Cheers!
This Muni Bianco, from Veneto Italy, is a Chardonnay wine blended with Durella and Pinot Grigio. It has been a long time to be surprised to drink Italian wine. The taste is like what a Chardonnay wine is, however, it is amazingly full of flavor of honey and passion fruit. It is good to go with any kind of meal, and the taste of this wine become more and more intense while eating. It’s definitely recommended !!
